Goal: a service provider that creates more impact
Upcycling with impact
As a service provider, Cycle-Up takes all the time-consuming side tasks off the hands of innovative entrepreneurs. By connecting local supply chain partners, Cycle-Up realizes upcycling with impact.
Prefer upcycling over recycling
Upcycling involves processing residual flows (locally) into fully functional new products. This saves the energy that would otherwise be required to scrap the residual flows during recycling. And it eliminates the need to transport the released raw materials over long distances.
Contributing to the circular economy
Recycling raw materials is good, but upcycling is even better. When this happens locally, it’s a textbook example of the circular economy. The benefits: less energy waste and the responsible reuse of valuable raw materials. We wanted to contribute to this goal with our expertise.
This is what Enablemi did
Cycle-Up asked us to help them find and apply for subsidies to create upcycling supply chains. We started by refining the business case and then advised on collaboration with supply chain partners from the public and private sectors. After providing the project with a substantive scope, we applied for ERDF Valorization . Successfully! We remained involved throughout the project’s implementation and managed the subsidy administration.
Special consortium
Can a mouse dance with an elephant? In the consortium we helped form, they certainly could – and they won the dance contest. Within the Cycle-Up consortium, small SMEs are collaborating with large, established companies. And it’s going incredibly well.
Enablemi feels like a friend always ready to assist with subsidy matters. They work with passion and precision, consistently delivering impressive results. It is truly a pleasure to collaborate with such a reliable and effective team.
Jeroen Dijkstra, Founder Cycle-upThe Cycle-Up project contributes to these Sustainable Development Goals
The win-win impact of Cycle-Up
The circular services provided by the Cycle-Up consortium create a win-win situation. All parties benefit, and the project delivers sustainable impact.
This way, partners have complete logistical support and can receive training and support in separating usable waste streams. Furthermore, an Impact Report provides insight into water and energy savings and CO2 reduction . And, of course, they have access to a raw materials marketplace to offer waste streams.
The project creates a sustainable impact by stimulating innovation, lowering costs, and removing barriers to upcycling. This saves money and makes circularly developed products attractive to purchase.
The municipality of Leeuwarden, along with the Province of Friesland, aims to be among the most circular regions in Europe by 2025. The Cycle-Up project accelerates this transition, benefiting not only Friesland but the entire planet.
