Goal: Bringing technical and clinical innovations to market

The Innovationkrediet program aims to stimulate the development and implementation of innovative projects. This program focuses on various sectors, such as technology, ICT, life sciences, chemistry, energy, and more.

The Innovationcrediet aims to support projects in completing the final development steps before they can enter the market. The end point of these projects is that the developed products, processes, or services can enter the market.

For projects with significant technical risks and excellent market prospects

The Innovationcrediet is only provided to (highly) technological projects with significant technical risks and excellent market prospects.

To be eligible for the Innovationcrediet, your project must focus on technical or clinical innovations. This could involve a new product, process, or service.

Innovationcrediet is provided by the RVO

If you have submitted an application for the Innovationcrediet, it will be assessed by the RVO.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) assesses applications in its role as investor. This means the assessment focuses not only on criteria such as technical feasibility, the quality of the project plan, and the experience and expertise of the team, but also on economic potential.

Furthermore, an important requirement for the Innovationcrediet is that you must submit an investment declaration. This means that one or more investors must co-finance the project.

Customised credit agreement

The Innovationcrediet offers financing in the form of a loan. Therefore, the amount received must be repaid at the end of the project period, along with a one-time surcharge and annual interest.

The risky nature of projects eligible for the Innovationcrediet is also reflected in the mandatory pledge agreement. If you are unable to repay the credit, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) receives the first lien on all tangible and intangible assets used in and arising from the project.

The available budget for the Innovationcrediet is determined annually and may vary. The amount of the credit awarded is determined based on the project’s assessment and financial feasibility.
