DEI+ in brief
- The DEI+ scheme supports projects focused on energy innovation and CO₂ reduction measures.
- Both companies and educational institutions can apply for this subsidy.
- The scheme is applicable to pilot and demonstration projects.
- The assessment takes into account technical feasibility, impact on the energy transition and economic potential.
- DEI+ is managed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the budget is determined annually by the government.
- DEI+ can be applied for different types of innovation:
- energy and climate innovations
- energy and climate innovations
- natural gas-free homes, neighbourhoods, residential buildings and utility buildings
- circular economy

Objective: Stimulating the energy transition
The DEI+ scheme aims to support pilot and demonstration projects that contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions. The subsidy is intended for projects in which innovative technologies are tested that help accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to sustainably generated energy.
For: pilot and demonstration projects
The DEI+ supports both pilot projects and demonstration projects.
- A pilot project is a trial project in which innovative measures are tested in environments that are representative of real-life operating conditions.
- A demonstration project involves an investment in an application that delivers environmental benefits within your own organisation. After the project ends, you remain the owner of the installation and it continues to be used.
To be eligible for DEI+, your project must fall within one of the following themes:
- Energy efficiency
- Renewable energy production, including spatial application
- Flexibilisation of the energy system, including hydrogen (pilot projects only)
- Local infrastructure
- Circular economy
- CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage – pilot projects only)
- Natural gas-free homes, districts and buildings
- Other CO₂-reducing measures
- Hydrogen and green chemistry
- Gasification of residual streams
Provided by RVO
You apply for the DEI+ scheme through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). Applications are assessed in the order in which they are received and are approved if they meet the conditions of the scheme.
Depending on scope and complexity
The DEI+ subsidy amount is variable and depends on the scope and complexity of your project. The total budget is determined annually by the government.
If you are our client, we monitor all announcements and deadlines for you. This way, we work together to submit a complete and correct application on time.
The result: you can make maximum use of this subsidy opportunity.
To make this clear and easy to read for you, we have rewritten the legal text of the scheme. Therefore, no rights can be derived from this text.
Tip from Enablemi
Make sure your project has a unique concept. According to the rules, your project is considered sufficiently innovative if a similar project has received DEI+ funding no more than twice before. Also make sure to clearly identify your demonstrable technical risks, as this is an important part of the assessment.
