Both SMEs and partnerships are eligible, provided that the project results and economic value benefit the region. The emphasis is on innovations that contribute to societal themes such as sustainability, circularity, digitalisation and health.

Enablemi provides clear guidance on applying this funding scheme, enabling organisations to quickly understand the opportunities and conditions.

Objective: Stimulate innovation and knowledge development

he objective of the Valorisation subsidy, administered by SNN and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is to stimulate innovative projects that generate economic and societal impact in the Northern Netherlands. The scheme enables the development, testing and demonstration of innovative prototypes, products, services and processes.

Collaboration and connections between businesses, knowledge institutions and innovative networks are central to the scheme. This ensures that knowledge is shared effectively and that projects contribute to a smarter, greener, more social and more inclusive Northern Netherlands. The focus is on harnessing regional strengths and supporting transitions in sustainability, digitalisation and health.

For: technology, digitalization and sustainability

The ERDF Valorisation SNN subsidy is primarily aimed at SMEs in the Northern Netherlands, but also allows other organisations to participate. These organisations may be based either within or outside the region. However, the project results must ultimately benefit the Northern Netherlands.

The focus is on seizing opportunities arising from four central transitions from the Northern Innovation Strategy (RIS3): the transition to a circular economy and renewable energy (sustainability), the shift from analogue to digital (digitisation), and the transition from care to sustainable health (technology) .

Provided by SNN

Applications for the Valorisation SNN subsidy can be submitted through the official website of the Northern Netherlands Alliance (SNN). The application process consists of two stages: an initial application on which you receive feedback, followed by the full application. Enablemi guides you through every stage and supports the successful implementation of your project.

The scheme has a fixed budget. The order in which complete applications are received plays a role in their assessment and approval. Collaboration is not mandatory, but it is encouraged and rewarded with a higher subsidy percentage to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the Northern Netherlands.

Financing  determined per project

  • The subsidy amounts to a minimum of €250,000 and a maximum of €1,000,000 per project.

  • When collaborating with other companies, none of the partners may bear more than 70% of the project’s total costs.
  • The subsidy amount and eligible costs are assessed in accordance with the applicable European ERDF rules, national REES 2021 rules and State aid rules.
