To explore new opportunities, there is a funding scheme called MIT Feasibility, which allows you to investigate the feasibility of your idea. This helps you take the first step towards innovation with greater confidence. A great example is the story of our client PCCLEANING.
PCCLEANING approached us with a challenge that arose from growing market demand: more and more small window-cleaning and cleaning companies needed osmosis water, but had to purchase it because they did not have their own production facilities. At the same time, national campaigns were encouraging people to reduce drinking water consumption, while osmosis water was still being produced from drinking water and groundwater. This felt contradictory, and PCCLEANING wondered: could this not be done with rainwater instead? “We saw that valuable drinking water was being wasted unnecessarily, while there was plenty of rainwater available. This had to change,” says Patrick Caspers of PCCLEANING.
Because there were still many uncertainties surrounding the technical, economic and legal feasibility, we advised PCCLEANING to apply for MIT Feasibility funding. This funding made it possible to investigate exactly these kinds of feasibility questions. In addition, the research process brought them into contact with relevant parties in the market. Without the funding, this process would have taken considerably longer. “The funding accelerated our idea; ultimately, it helped us make the project more concrete, robust and structured,” Patrick explains.
Thanks to the feasibility study, PCCLEANING had the confidence to develop the idea into a strong combination of services and products. They now have three locations in the Northern Netherlands where osmosis water is produced from rainwater under the name DEMI+. Work is underway to expand into the Randstad region, alongside an awareness campaign aimed at municipalities and other public authorities, cleaning companies and window cleaners. The campaign highlights the unnecessary use of drinking water and the importance of more sustainable alternatives.
We look back proudly on our collaboration with PCCLEANING. The MIT Feasibility funding process not only created financial room, but also made it possible to test the feasibility of the idea in practice. Our role went beyond the application itself; we provided strategic input and made sure the funding-related requirements were properly arranged from the outset, allowing PCCLEANING to focus fully on research and development.
